Cold Drawn Steel Buyer FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What cold drawn steel products and grades can Junxiong supply?
Junxiong Metal supplies cold drawn round, flat, square and hexagonal bars, plus custom profiles made to drawing. Regular procurement enquiries include 1215 and 12L14 free-cutting cold drawn round bars, 11SMn30/11SMnPb30, 1.0715/1.0718, SUM23/SUM24L and Q235B. Other grades and cross-sections are reviewed against the buyer’s standard, drawing, tolerance, quantity and end use before quotation.
What information is required for a cold drawn steel quotation?
Please provide: steel grade and standard; cross-section and exact dimensions; required tolerance; fixed or random length; order quantity; end use; surface or secondary processing; and delivery country or port. For custom profiles, attach a dimensioned drawing and mark the critical dimensions. These details allow our factory to review manufacturability and quote the correct material, tooling, processing and export packing.
Which tolerances, processing services and documents are available?
Typical enquiries include h9 round bars and h10 square or hexagonal bars, but the achievable tolerance depends on grade, section size and length and must be confirmed in the quotation. Services can include fixed-length cutting, drawing-based custom profiles, punching and galvanizing after drawing review. Material certificates and agreed chemical or mechanical test documents can be supplied when specified before order confirmation.
Are cold drawn steel bars and cold rolled strip products the same purchasing route?
No. Cold drawn bars and profiles are not the same product route as cold rolled sheet, strip or roll-formed sections. The official BS EN 10277 overview specifically identifies bright bars in drawn, peeled/turned or ground condition and states that the standard does not cover cold-rolled products or cut lengths made from sheet or strip. Buyers should state the required process, section shape, governing standard and end use rather than using “cold rolled” as a substitute search term. See the cold drawn versus peeled and ground buyer guide.
Can 1215, 12L14, 11SMn30, SUM24L or similar country-grade numbers be ordered as exact equivalents?
Not from the grade name alone. Cross-country designations are useful search and comparison routes, but a purchase specification must identify the governing standard and confirm chemistry, mechanical requirements, dimensions, processing and inspection documents. Use the 1215, 12L14, 11SMn30 and SUM24L comparison as a screening guide, then approve the order specification and MTC requirements before production.
What evidence proves the steel grade and production batch?
A grade-specific batch claim requires the applicable producer or mill inspection document and traceability that connects the heat or lot number to the supplied product. A factory photograph, ISO certificate, generic chemical table, sample report or third-party MTC found online does not prove a Junxiong shipment. The required document type, reported chemistry or mechanical results and any independent inspection must be agreed in the purchase order. Review the factory and quality verification route before sending the RFQ.
Official Standard Reference Routes
The following publisher pages identify the scope of commonly requested standards. They are specification references, not Junxiong batch certificates. The edition and requirements written into the accepted purchase order govern the supply.
- ASTM A108-24: Steel Bar, Carbon and Alloy, Cold-Finished
- BS EN 10277:2018: Bright Steel Products, Technical Delivery Conditions
- SAE J403_202402: Chemical Compositions of SAE Carbon Steels
- ASTM A582/A582M-22: Free-Machining Stainless Steel Bars
- ISO 10474:2013: Steel and Steel Products, Inspection Documents
Contact the Factory
Send the steel grade, section size, tolerance, length, quantity, delivery country and end use. Junxiong Metal will review manufacturability and reply with the technical and commercial questions required for an accurate quotation. Email the RFQ, send it by WhatsApp, or use the quotation form.
For a custom cold drawn profile, attach a dimensioned drawing and mark the critical tolerances. Also state the steel grade or equivalent standard, annual demand, trial quantity, fixed length, required processing, packaging and destination port. We will confirm feasibility before making any tolerance, lead-time or documentation commitment.
